My Outdoors Identity
In Gloria Anzadula’s “How to Tame a
Wild Tongue” heritage is extremely crucial to her identity. The way someone
carries himself or herself can translate to your own identity. Identity to me is important to someone’s
heritage, and where someone lives and how that person speaks can show what kind
of person he or she is. My identity is being an outdoorsman. I love to be in the outdoors because I love
the adrenaline rush I get when I am hunting, fishing, Also I feel that it is very
calming and my family and friends do many of these things so it’s nice to
hangout and bond with them. Identity is
important to me because it reminds myself where I am from. This is the same
with Gloria Anzadula because she loves speaking her heritage language Chicano
Spanish and that reminds her of who she is just like being in the outdoors is
for me.
or doing adventurous
things.
Identity is
different all throughout the world, making people have different religions,
hobbies, language etc. It is the way in which you view yourself and who you
are. The list will continue to grow due
to different identities coming about. That’s why Identity is important because
it shows how people act in society. Identity also reminds them who they are and
where they come from. Since Identity is an opinionated question, meaning
everyone’s is different. My outdoors
identity is different from Anzadulas Spanish Speaking identity and these
identities are most likely different from others identities.
Identity
to some people is who they are and they do not want that kind of change. Some examples are being religious, being a
reader, or even liking to do nothing. It
reminds them of where they originate from and how important their heritage is
to them. My family has always done
outdoors things because that is who my dad is.
He brought me up by enjoying the outdoors and not spend all your time inside because there is so many activities the earth has to offer. In the short essay “How to Tame a Wild Tongue” Anzaldua kept getting put into all these speech classes to change the way in which she spoke. She did not like this because they were changing her identity in which she loved and cherished. Being Chicano was who she is and no matter how much the school tried to change that about her she would not budge. Speaking Spanish was important to Anzaldua that is why she spoke it often throughout the essay. The reader was not supposed to understand the Spanish but it was to remind the reader how important speaking Spanish was to her. Anzaldua showed everyone that they cannot change whom she is and her identity reminded Anzaldua where she was from and it reminded her not to change her identity.

My
identity is being in the outdoors. I
like to hunt and fish and many people think that this is wrong because your
killing animals. That is why I stand up
for myself and all the others like myself.
I tell non-hunters that is has been happening for thousands of years and
what makes all of this different than what it was. I would also tell them that it keeps the
population down and most hunters and myself eat what they kill. This is the same concept with Anzadula,
people try to make fun of me for my identity but I will not change because the
outdoors is who I am, just like Anzadula showed everyone that you cannot take
away speaking Chicano Spanish from her.
Identity is
important because it can teach each other who we are. It allows humans to learn and grasp the
knowledge of someone who is different. This
can help people in many ways because it extends the knowledge of people because
they learn about each other. Learning
different identities can help humans understand how and why people do things. It is interesting to learn about each other
because not everyone has the same identity.
In 2015, some
people could forget their identity. They
may forget about their heritage because they do not care about it anymore they
may try to fit in with a new crowd or they may get made fun of with being
different from everyone else. They could
have had bad experiences or over time started developing beliefs for some other
culture. To these people identity is
clearly not important. People like this
may believe that everyone is the same or should be the same because everyone is
human. I do not agree with this because
being different makes the world go around.
Could you imagine if everyone did the exact same thing as everyone
else? It would be boring and there would
be nothing to learn about.
Many people are
different in the world and many people hail from different backgrounds and
cultures making everyone’s identity different from one another. Identity makes humans different from each
other because people have different interests in life. In different cultures people do daily tasks
differently than others in another culture.
People think identity is important because it reminds them of who they
are and if they continue to have that same identity one will never forget who
they really are.
